im currently using shell extra diesel in my trooper and it seems to love it,  using other brands mine would only return an average of 25 mpg, using the shell extra ive suddenly gone up to 31mpg
just seems to run so much better and also the engine seems quiter in running
has anybody else noticed this

Is that the ordinary diesel or the power variety, I forget the brand name, as Marky said the cetane level is higher.

From Shell

Quote:
A. Yes. Shell Diesel Extra is high in cetane. Cetane is an indication of the fuel’s readiness to ignite. A diesel fuel with a high cetane number can aid combustion in older diesel vehicles, leading to the engine running more smoothly with less noise and reduced emissions.

In the uk fuels are lower in cetane(diesel) and octane(petrol) than they are in japan, thats why all the subaru sti import owners have to use the higher grade shell and octane boost to avoid engine damage.

But this does not apply to the uk spec motors  Wink
