Just wondered i think it is common sense but i bought an led rocker switch

No numbers or wiring codes anywhere so i assume its a live in and out one side say left and earth in and out the other, Making no difference if live or earth (IN) is top or bottom. am i assuming right? sorry if this question seems a daft one but i don't want to bug*er anything up.

Thanks

Dyl.

Sounds logical but I'd check it with a meter as the + and earth need to be the right way round and on the right contacts to let the LED work.

If it's a straight swtich (sorry can't see pics at work) there will be 2 wires for the switch, and possibly another 2 for the led - is it back lit? There might be wires for that also so it's on the panel lights?

There are 4 spades on it 2 left 2 right separated (insulated) by a piece of plastic.

2 on one side will be the switch. 2 on the other side will be the lamp.

Stick a mulimeter on it and you'll soon figure it out Wink

If you set a multimeter to read ohms at the lowest setting. On the display you'll see '1' if you touch the 2 probes together you'll see some numbers like 0.123, or if it's a fancy multimeter it will beep at you Wink

Put the probes on 2 of the terminals, flip the switch and watch the dispaly.

If it stays at '1' then you've not got a connection. If it changes to 0.123 or something, you've just made a circuit.

Fine the 2 pairs. 1 will go to earth (-ve) one will be a feed (+ve) these will be for the light.  One will be to the spots relay trigger and one will be for the fused power.

Once you've wired one it'll all make sence Wink

hi dx sorry to bother you mate, have you ever heard of this one, i got the spot lights working using method you advised  Very Happy but when the engine is running and side lights on the spots come on,then when i turn switch to dipped beam the spots go off until i go to main beam on the column switch. however if i try lights without engine running the lights work as they should so i think i must surely have the right trigger wire. i don't suppose it makes a difference but i have used the drivers side light as the trigger. Confused  Confused
oooer any help much appreciated Embarassed

Err confused a little with your description - If Keith is reading, he might be able to explain the headlight spots flashing sequence, it's a little weird...

Have you taken the trigger wire off the full beam light or the side light?

The spots (if you leave the main beam on when you switch your lights off) will flash when you pull the leaver towards you. If you switch off high beam before you switch off the lights then the flash should only operate the head lights.

Don't know how it works with the side lights. I think that's how it works, alhough don't quote me on any of it Very Happy

Sounds like you've taken the side light feed to be the trigger for the spots...

Did someone not say that the sidelights send a small feed to the high beam? I know someone had same problem and got round it somehow.
