Recently bought a Rodeo, and was wandering if anyone is running one on vegetable oil as I would like to. I understand the engine is different to the Trooper engine. Also any idea whether the injector pump is a Bosch or Lucas? any help/advice appreciated. |

I've been using Bio from Bio UK fuels for a while now but this morning it started missing and cutting out , so I've just drained the tank and put a new filter on and filled it up with fossil diesel , I cut the filter in half to look inside and it was full of congealed fat the last time I filled up with Bio they told me they'd put a winter addative in it , some good that did |

The latest news is that taking into account all the processing it takes to make veg oil suitable as a fuel, consumes more energy than it does to use an equivalent quantity of diesel.
So if you're using it to save the planet, it's a waste of time.
If you're using it to save yourself money then it has some merit.
If you're using it to free yourself from the yoke of Middle eastern domination then Rock On! _________________ 1999 Cougar with a NICE motor..

Citation please.
That sounds like the biggest pile of petro chemical company fulled rubbish.
Clean veg oil + enthanol + stiring for 4 - 5 hours = glycerene + bio diesel
Where does the engergy come from which is greater than fossil fuel? _________________ For great insurance deals on 4x4s, imports and more, contact Adrian Flux :

Don't think it came from oil company source, but they were comparing the processes to commercially produce the stuff and the energy it took . Don't ask me mate, I burn it not make it... _________________ 1999 Cougar with a NICE motor..

I'm sure someone will be along that will know about Veg Oil in the new 3.0, it is very different than the Trooper 3.0 as the Rodeo uses Direct Injection rather than Common Rail. _________________ |

I left some Bio outside last night in a jam jar and this morning it was really thick and a sediment had settled in the bottom , no wonder it was blocking the filter up , don't think it was that cold last night either |

it's just plain bad no matter what you run it in, it removes all the muck from the fuel system and lines and deposits it in the filter which eventually gets so bunged up it starts to let the really small bits through and knackering the pump and injectors, i will never be convinced on the merits of bio against the cost of repairing the bits it's breaks! |
